Volunteers
needed for medical mission trip to
Haiti
The Herald
Bulletin
Nehemiah
Vision Ministries is looking for
volunteers to assist with a medical
mission trip to Haiti in March. The
mission will help a group of children
who attend Nehemiah Christian Academy
in the town of Chambrun. The school
recently expanded from 63 students to
120 students, and none of them receive
basic medical care.
The
organization’s first medical mission
trip took place in September 2007.
Aaron Sherrick, President of Nehemiah
Vision Ministries (NVM), and Stephanie
Mueller, NVM’s Medical Coordinator,
were able to examine 84 children in
three days. The children were given
basic medical exams (eye tests, growth
charts, etc.), and most were given
de-worming drugs and scabies
treatments. In addition, the children
were started on a multi-vitamin. But
there were many more children who did
not receive any medical attention
during that mission.
“Our
goal is to have more people to go on
these mission trips in the future, so
we will be able to see more children
and assist more families in Chambrun.”
Mueller says. The next medical mission
trip takes place March 8-15.
The hope
of NVM is that the organization will
be fortunate enough to have a dentist
or doctor volunteer to go on the next
medical mission trip, but all
volunteers are welcome. If you are
interested in volunteering, contact
Aaron Sherrick at (317) 376-3155.
